Tornado scientists send drone fleet into violent thunderstorms

Army of researchers descends on the central United States to figure out why only certain storms spawn the most powerful twisters.

Christian Rivas’s insight:
A new project called Targeted Observation by Radar and Unmanned aircraft systems of Super cells will deploy four drones into storms to see what atmospheric factors cause deadly tornadoes like the ones we have been seeing lately hitting parts of the US.They will fly 800 meters into the sky and capture data at the same time helping atmospheric scientist understand what causes these deadly tornadoes. The drones and mobile radars will help gather information to understand what creates these storms since tornadoes have a high false positive rate. This will help researchers and scientist understand the storms which in return help save lives by alarming citizens of a tornado more accurately.
