USAF looks at autonomous drone swarms for search and rescue

US Air Force researchers are looking at using swarms of autonomous unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) for search and rescue missions.

Micaela Lerma’s insight:
US Air Force researchers are interested in using swarms of UAVs for search and rescue missions. Before they begin using them for this, the AFRL and the DSTL wanted to create a competition where teams were able to create new and efficient ways for UAVs to execute search and rescues. During this competition they will be assigned the task to map out wildfires.
