Drones help New Jersey towns monitor, manage flood-prone rivers

Susan Birch’s insight:
This New Jersey town now uses drones to monitor its three river system faster and cheaper. Data can be used for environmental planning and permitting and to spot trees and debris that can obstruct flow and lead to flooding. Surveys are required by flood insurance companies so citizens can potentially save money due to better, more accurate data compared to previous methods of survey, (from riverbanks or by canoe.)
